Audi Navigation-how does it work?
So while shopping for my future TT, I have looked at lots of pics of TT's that claim to have the navigation option. I am confused though as to how it works. I dont mean how does it work with sattelites or anything, I mean I dont see a screen or controls on any of the pics. I have noticed some little row of buttons in between the seats, but I dont know if this is the Nav or not. And I dont know how the car tells you where to go or where you are or anything. Does anyone here have it or can explain how it works? thanks (I looked in the FAQ here and on audiworld and didnt see anything)

Ditto.
I bought my 2001 TT about six months ago and test drove 7 TT's (plus all the others I sifted through in the classifieds) and did not find a single one with navigation. That led me to think the system wasn't too popular.
Personally, I use Delorme Street Atlas with a USB GPS antenna hooked up to my laptop for trips where I'll need GPS (travel, etc.). Software and antenna run approx. $100

I haveNav_D onTT so that makes me special I guess.
But the data on disks is not special its very limted.
Btw , it displays everything on console between gauges.
Controller for unit is on parking break console and is easy to use.
When the data is in there, the prompts are great while navigating. VERY NICE.
Says things like "get in left lane" "get ready to turn 1000ft." "continue on", great arrow prompts , distance to destination ,distance to next way point, time to destination, lowers volume onCD player, lady voice, all great.
Its just that the data on the CD's (mine 2003)is sparse (blame Navteq maybe?). Doesn't have all streets or towns. Not like Google maps at all which I am now spoiled with.
I give it2.5 stars out of 5.
