I have had my car serviced from a non-dealer and they haven't reset my service warning light. Can anyone help me with a method of doing this without having to purchase a electronic tool.

It's in your Manual.
1. Turn on car while pressing the odometer reset button. "Service" will show on the display.

2. Press the button at the bottom of the odometer until the Service message is cleared.
At least this works for A4 and A3 1.8T
