auto dimming mirror/compass acting weird

auto dimming mirror/compass acting weird
Car: Audi TT roadster 2008
My auto dimming mirror just turned off suddenly & compass is not displaying directions...
When I put the key in the ingnition, the compass flashes "00". and goes off (No green light stays illuminated).
Per manual instructions:
But why is it not turning on automatically???
Anyone shead some light on this?
