Bad pulley noise..??
I have a weird noise coming from what seems to be the front passenger side. It sounds like a bad pulley (front past expireince with other vehicles) but not sure what it is. When I went to look for the sound, it's louder up front and I was thinking something got into the e-fans but when accelerated, the sound goes with the revs so that ruled out the fan.
Could it also be my timing belt going out or the tensioner part?
This morning, it was lounder than yesterday but after 5-10 miles of driving, it wasn't as loud. It was barely making a winding/scratching noise but when I reved it up, I definitely heard it.
So, before I start to take the thing apart, I would like to know if anyone has had this problem and to point me in the right direction.

secondary air injection. It comes on when the car is cold to warm up the engine. It is on when you start it and the revs are ~1k and then off when they drop back down to ~800rpms
Well I've had a check engine light now for a few weeks which turned out to be the code for revs being to high(don't remember the code). I haven't found the culprit for that problem yet but the CEL seems to go off after I've ran the AC for a while due to it lowering the revs when on. Soooo...it's always no lower thatn 1k rpms...
Will do and for the tba, I searched for it and found this....
TB – The throttle on these cars is drive by wire, it is an electronic throttle with a wire attached. Most common TB problem just requires adaptation, or cleaning out with carb cleaner. This procedure shows how to do a TBA. TBA can improve idle, and part throttle operation. http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/throttlebody.html. To clean the TB remove it, and spray inside with carb cleaner. Wipe out the residue that gets built up in there. NEVER port a TB on a 1.8T it won’t idle properly.
.....problem is, the link doesn't work...any help for that?

For a TB adaptation on VAG it's either channel 109 or 129.
You could always turn the key into the on position, and leave it there for a few minutes until you hear it realign... Just don't touch the gas pedal.

I had a simular problem with other cars, it turned out to be the belt tensioner bearing. "belt dressing" (spray can) solved the problem for about an hour. May be worth tring as a last resort.
