Battery Question...
Here's the deal, a little over a week ago my car wouldn't start and I had to get a boost from a friend. Took the car directly to Autozone and found out my alternator was only putting out about 59 amps. Then took the car to the dealership, they confirmed it was a bad alternator, and a few days and $700 later went to pick up the car. Knowing that a bad alternator can ruin a battery, I specifically asked if they checked to see if the battery was still good. I was told that yes they checked it and yes it was still good. The car ran just fine for 5 days then once again, it wouldn't start. This time I ripped out the battery and took it to Autozone to have it tested. Big surprise, the battery was bad. Got a new battery, installed it, then ran back to Autozone to make sure the alternator was still good, and it was. Called the dealership to complain and got the run around.
Now I'll go from ranting to asking the question... Does anyone have an explanation as to how a battery can go from being perfectly fine to completely bad in 5 days? The only thing I can think of is that they never took the time to check the battery after they replaced the alternator.

I have a lot of experience dealing with service people and sales people.
And the best way to determine if they are BSing is to ask questions on EVERYTHING.
For example:
You: You checked the battery right? Is it good?
Them: Oh yea, its good.
important follow up:
You: well how did you check the battery to determine it was good?
Again:
What do you usually see with bad batteries? with good ones?
If they are faking it, stuttering and stammering usually starts to set in by this point.
Then,,
You: Can I see the read out from the battery check?
The more follow up Qs you have , even if you are making stuff up, the better you can expose the hidden BS if there is one.
