i run a bov and it works fine
well tell me this.. i heard on some other forum that the 1.8t engine isnt suppose to have a BOV, another DV or a splitter is ok, but a BOV is not allowed. Is this just crap because i hear a lot of people doing BOV's here and it seems strange, prolly a n00b like me sayin stuff he doesnt know.
just gotta confirm tho !

RE: Boost Guage Instal
The ECU meters air just after the air filter, with the MAF sensor (Mass Air Flow). Once that air is accounted for, the ECU expects it to stay in the system. With a stock setup, the diverter valve diverts unused boost pressure back into the intake, before the turbo, and it just gets recycled back thru. It's still in the system, still accounted for. Its like taking a head count at the door for who wants sandwiches. If you come in, you get a sandwich.
A blow off valve vents to atmosphere, but the ECU is already planning on injecting X amount of fuel. You lost some of that, so you'll get a rich condition when you vent.
In this case, you're free to walk out the side door if you want, but you have to come back in the front door (and get counted again). Now 20 people walk in, food services makes 20 sandwiches, but in the meantime, 5 people stepped out for a smoke. They'll count as 5 new people when they come back in, and theres gonna be too many sandwiches at the counter.
So, unless you plan on doing a little tweaking/tuning to set things up right, you're best to stick with a diverter valve, or suffer stale sandwiches.
The End.
Thats more 'fun story' for me than info for you, but the gist of it is a DV is your best choice, a splitter works, and a BOV should only be used if you know what you're doing.

[sm=funnypostabove.gif]hahaha that was awesome.
I think i got it, can you make a nice analogy for a Splitter ! ? Would that be like walking in and ordering, going outside to smoke and coming in without being counted again ? Cause that recirculates it like a DV, but gives you a nice sound..[&:]
anyway.. thanks for the help though
