yeah thats right. I just replaced mine with the pfr6q and the weird thing is; is that they are laser cut platinum. But on the 1.8 FAQ it says only use copper plugs right?

THose are the stock plugs, and much more expensive. You can try the copper plugs and you may also want to check the wastegate for isht and giggles. The a4's have issues with it coming loose and trouble holding pressure. This honestly doesnt sound like the issue, and its not that common on the transverse cars, but may still be worth checking. Just shake the arm and make sure the nut is tight.

I'll give her a go first thing in the morning. Would improper tuning of the diverter cause something like this? I believe I have the yellow spring in.. I may need to double check though.

You should have either between a green with 2 shims to the yellow with one shim. It varies from each setup, just remember you want the softest spring setting to hold the psi

ok so I check the DV and it only had a green spring in there. I threw in the yellow with a shim and now it seems to hold the boost pretty well.

To be honest though, I have no idea how to "tune" the DV. As in which spring does what etc.. For example, how would I know if the spring/shim combo is too strong in there now?

Just keep working your way down until you cant hold the psi and then go back up to the last one that worked. Just the yellow spring along should be fine

switched it to just the yellow spring and it worked great. Tonight I installed the Forge TIP and instead of the problem before (spike at 20 hold at 18) it now spikes at 23 holds at 20. Do I need to add the shim now on the yellow? Im somewhat frustrated at this point.. Would it make any difference after install? Everything is tight and solid..

yea well my last post was kind of misleading.. forget what I said, I typed it when I was really tired..

Here is the deal:

If you read the first post it says it spikes, drops then picks up a little..and not only did I notice it on the boost gauge but I noticed it on my butt dyno too, almost as though the clutch was slipping, but mainly in third gear.....

after I put the yellow spring in there it would spike, drop a few PSI and hold strong..

Now it is doing the spike, drop, climb a bit thing again... very annoying..

If it means anything, at high boost in third gear the turbo almost sounds like the dreaded "dentist drill" even though I dont want to admit it...

help please!!!
