boost question
well i was out yesterday and the car was running fine 12-14lbs of boost, passed a car and noticed it wasnt running very good looked over and its at only 5lbs of boost, no CEL, no nothing and ideas? Ive tried turning the car off but nothing there just wont boost over 5lbs. if its in limp mode wouldnt it have a CEL on?.........thanks
I have a question i want to put an intercooler in my stock 2000 audi TT can i just hook up one with the stock turbo, also has anyone seen the intercooler tubing on ebay for 79.99, will that work right?
thanks
eric

For no vagcable: (stereo code is needed)
disconnect the battery
wait 10 min
connect the battery
turn the car ON but DO NOT START (you will hear a high pitch whine coming from the throttle body)
wait for the throttle body to align itself (no more noise)
start your car and go for a drive
thanks cincy, yea the car feels like its in limp mode, the car goes right to 5lbs and thats it, i have a vagcom and it gave me a code of 17436 maybe, i cleared it before i wrote it down. and have not drove it since
Yes, for an unchipped car that is about the right boost range to expect. BTW when you do go into limp mode usually turning the car off and on again will clear the codes.
An overboost won't cause a CEL, but if there is something else going on to cause it the ECU may be storing codes that may be helpful. Do you have VAG-COM or a cheap code reader to pull the codes? You might also be able to find someone in your area that has VAG-COM who might be able to help you out... VAG-COM Locator.
