Since it seems that you are not chipped yet and are claiming to hit 14psi, I bet you cleared 14.7psi andthat putyou in limp mode. If a connector came off, you would have no boost unless the pipes are very close together then maybe 1 or 2 psi. You need to reset the ecu to clear the codes (even though they are not causing a cel).

For no vagcable: (stereo code is needed)
disconnect the battery
wait 10 min
connect the battery
turn the car ON but DO NOT START (you will hear a high pitch whine coming from the throttle body)
wait for the throttle body to align itself (no more noise)
start your car and go for a drive

Yes, for an unchipped car that is about the right boost range to expect. BTW when you do go into limp mode usually turning the car off and on again will clear the codes.

An overboost won't cause a CEL, but if there is something else going on to cause it the ECU may be storing codes that may be helpful. Do you have VAG-COM or a cheap code reader to pull the codes? You might also be able to find someone in your area that has VAG-COM who might be able to help you out... VAG-COM Locator.
