I feel I need to spend my 2 cents. I replaced my brake switch with a VW beatle brake switch (since there is no Audi dealership in Athens, GA) and it works great. Plus, it was only $4.

Perhaps the plunger is stuck in the out position. I would remove the brake light fuse or unplug the switch to save your battery. I have another switch you can have. If you need help installing it, let me know.

I assume you can get to the switch since you think you broke the last one.

When I installed mine, I didnt touch the brake pedal. I just made sure the new switch was not plugged in. Inserted it, rotated till it locked. Then plugged in the 4 pin connector. Tapped the pedal and saw red.

Try this DIY... It may be for a VW but it has some great pics.

Yeah I pushed the pedal in and then inserted it but when let go of the pedal it pushed the thing all the way in and broke it. I just read this forum about a different switch that doesnt break, i may try and buy one of those. Check it out http://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/1711363.phtml

As I stated earlier, I used a VW Beatle switch. With this switch, you are able to install many different times to make sure you get it right. And again, only $4! I highly recommend it.
