Default Brakes at 35,000 miles

I have a 2001 TT bought new, about 35000 miles on it. It has already received the 50,000 mile service because all that comes free with purchase so my service interval is a bit off, although it has been super-maintained because of all the free services.

I am now due for a 10,000 mile service. (I had to construct a special chart of what had been done and not been done to the car and it looks like I will get a 20,000 service at 45,000 miles).

I need to know about brake service intervals. It looks like brake fluid should be replaced every two years. True?

I am a moderate driver, not agressive and good with the clutch. I am not seeing or hearing or feeling any type of brake wear. Does this model have brake sensors (sqealers?, lights on a dashboard panel? I do not see anything on this in the owner's manual). Typically a dealer here in Houston will recommend replacement of brakes at 30,000 on Volvos and I suspect they will also do it on the TT. However, I would like to know the minimum thicknesses for brake pads before replacement so I can ask the dealer the minimum requirement and what they are measurig on the front and back pads themselves.

Also, dealers like to over-recommend rotor replacement. What is to be expected with TTs and rotor replacement? Does this model have metallic brake pads that wear the rotors quickly?

I am not planning to take ANY chances, but with one other car to drive, I put miles on this car very slowly and don't want to throw away good parts.

Let me know and thanks....
