Smile Bushings Questions?

I am looking to replace the suspension bushings and had a few questions:

1) Where can I find the complete bushing set (urethane or something stiffer than stock)
2) Can I replace them myself (pretty good at smallish stuff, I would say 3 out of 5 skill wise)
3) Is it really going to make a difference (I imagine so, as my car has close to 100K now)
4) Will a Mk4 dogbone mount work on the TT

On an unrelated note, how difficult is the removal of the rear valence? I am looking to buy a 3.2 valence and fab up a dual exhaust.

~Thanks all!

TTstuff carries the full line of powerflex poly bushings for the TT. I highly recommend the a-arm bushings, they really do make a difference.

Unfortunately, its not easy to press the old ones out. I fought, and I had a big hydraulic press at my disposal. Mainly due to the dissimilar metals of the a-arm and the sleeve of the bushing. The materials start to bond.

Well I too have a very large press at my discretion and I have techs (I work at a dealer) to do it for me!

~Will look into TT Stuff.

If you mean front control arm bushings, I suggest you look in to DEFCONs.

I wonder why you would say that?

I would love to have the chance to drive a defcon'd TT.

Whats the price difference between the powerflex bushings, and defcons?

I'll be running the powerflex until I need a captive ball, but Im curious.

DEFCON adapters are $125, and you need to put bushes in them. OEM bushes (DEFCON 2 level) are around $8 ea, MK1 PowerFlex bushes are around $50.

What ever route you go, don't forget the rear bushes, use new bolts, and you will need an alignment (making the parts difference moot, IMO).

Here's a link to part numbers, if you need them:

Where do you live? I would hazard to guess someone near you has them installed.
