Default A/C Stopped Working

One day the A/C was working fine on my 2001 TT and then the next day nothing. The blower is working, but the compressor is not coming on. I checked fuse no 16 and those on top of the battery. What should I check next?

Default a/c fan

one: when was the last time you had it serviced? two: if fairly recent did they change the drier as well?

does any fan come on when you turn on the a/c?......

big loaded question with so many starts and tries.......

The a/c was working just fine. The cabin blower works fine. The cabin control panel is functional. The magnetic clutch does not seen to be functioning. Is there a relay for this that needs to be checked?

Ive used a few of those self R134 kits a couple years ago when mine needed a recharge and it worked well. Its only like $15 to diy and if that doesnt work, you need a new compressor. A good used one can be found on vwvortex.com for about $125-150 and takes about 1-2hr to install. There is also a how to on there as well.

Update....
If anyone cares. I took my Audi to the dealer. After some trouble shooting, they determined that it was a fuse box on the back side that was fried. It controlled the radiator fans, so the A/C wouldn't come on. With that replaced now everything is working fine.

yes it is called the AUX. fan controller. it is underneath the battery and it has a history of going out it is typically the last thing to check as the part can cost as much as $304 but as little as $60 depending on where you buy it you nedd two people to install the person above does not do much but put bolts in the holes for the person below fairly easy on a TTbut aJetta the molding is a pain to get off.......

Thanks
