Can you replace the K04 with an E05 for a 225 TT. I read that its a bigger and mor aggressive turbo!

Here's a direct Quote

"The E-05 is the latest development in the 06A/058 K-0 bolt-on turbo line. The E-05 utilizes the compressor wheel and housing from the S model K-03. It is slightly larger in diameter than the K-04. in the end, the E-05 is a bigger, more aggressive turbo thant the K-04.

The key performance advantage of the E-05 lies in the design of the exhaust wheel. It is much larger and has a more aggressive blade profile for faster spool up (see below). The design of this wheel also incorporates a much more efficient exhaust gas outlet, allowing for increased power at higher RPM. The net result is minimal turbo lag and great upper end output! "

I have to admit i never read more than the first sentece...WHY?

The e05(-b) is made to be a drop in replacement for a ko3(s) and not the ko4-2x. It is about the same in performance as a ko4-2x but has the compressor and turbine to fit the k03 cars. So no, not a replacement. Also these turbos can make ~ the same hp as a ko4 but are much...much weaker. They have upgraded them in the b version but the shaft is still very weak and canbarelyproduce 18psi without risking it snapping. So its not a great turbo and some shops try to sell it for over $1k.

i've done a lot of research on this topic before settling for a similar version. the e-o5 is supposed to go out quite often due to the small shaft with large wheels on it. what you have right now produces as much power if not more. the spoolup might be a little bit faster on the k04-001/e05 but its not noticable. and like cincytt said it just wont fit unless you want to downgrade to tt180 components. the vdub gusy messed with all these turbos back in 2003/04 and most of them went big turbo or just settled for a basic k04-001.

e05 > ko4-001
e05 ~ ko4-2x Made to bridge the gap, but very poorly made.

GTRS is the way to go if you are going to replace your K04.
