Beware of the car wash! By chance, is your car chipped? This happened to me last year after a car wash and it ended up costing me a new ECU and a new chip! Now I'm extra careful (only wash the car myself and try not to shoot water into the grill) and have siliconed around the ECU. I heard of an R32 owner who had the same issue about six months ago BTW.
im not sure if my car is chipped, but this is the second time, i washed the car my self but when i realized i was actully powering water on the windshield, it was to late, how much did a new ecu cost u? i hope mine is still good. and how can i tell if my car is chipped?

If the car no longer starts...the ECU is dead. That's what happened to me at least. If it dried out and the car starts then you're okay. Just be more careful next time. A new ECU + labor was approx. 1K (if I remember correctly). You will know if your car is chipped if you have a boost gauge and have higher than stock boost readings. I know that's pretty vague but we need to know if you have the 180hp or 225 hp model because stock boost numbers are different for the two. You can also search this forum because the question of how to know if a car is chipped has come up before.

180 stock boost = 10psi
180 chipped boost = 15psi
225 stock boost = 15psi
225 chipped boost = 20psi
180 chipped boost = 15psi
225 stock boost = 15psi
225 chipped boost = 20psi

Make sure that black plastic rain guard by the wipers is pushed down all the way.
It snaps on and off, so feel free to mess around with it.
Takes a bit of pulling so don't worry about breaking it (unless you're sum sorta superman).
