cut wires
Hi I am new to audi ownership. I bought a 1996 a4 that was a theft recovery. The speakers were stolen. I am trying to get new ones installed but the wires on the drivers side were cut at the speaker and I am not sure what all of the wires go to because there are more wires on the the drivers side than the passenger side. Anyone that would be able to give aNY ADVISE i WOULD APPRECIATE IT. I have contacted a stero store and they said it will cost $300.00 to just run new wires.
Might end up spending some money on that one, but I would take it to a custom audio store, and see if they can hook you up with a new system. Since all of the speakers are already out, shouldn't be that hard for them to go in and wire everything up for you. You are going to pay for it though, since it's an Audi. Some places might not even work on it, but find someone you trust, for a fair ammount.
Replace your headunit, and run some new wires, IMO...

check the resistance on the wires.. pull out the headunit, and see if any of the wires match pattern or color, then check the resistance from one end to the other.. also.. does everything else in your door work? I am not sure how the wiring is for the speakers, but there might only be four outputs from the headunit, and you have two speakers in the front and rear door.. it would be best to see if they were run seperate or if the small component speaker was run directly off the main speaker.. all in all, just run new wires it will make life a lot easier
