Car Problem
well hey guys, I sent my tt to the shop a couple weeks after purchase because of driveability issues. I bought the car about a month ago and everything was working great. I sent it to my local shop and the audi rep. tells me he thinks the car has been chipped because it is so quick. The car is over boosting (than limp mode) and seems to have turbo flutter everytime I get hard on it. They dont know where to start on a fix. What would you guys do?
wastegate is a good place to start, some good tips on this link

I am curious -- is there any information such as a 'signature' that is left by the actual map tuner that VAG can determine? I believe that I have a local-shop-tune on my ECU, but I'd like to be sure.
I'm going to purchase VAGCOM from eBay at some point in the near future for around $70.00 ... this what most people spend for it?
Also, in the event that there is no signature left by the tune shop, how will I determine the tune-- look for similarities in the graphical fuel mapping visuals?
Hoo-ha! 3 questions in one!

heheh, nice one.
At least with APR, its encrypted programming, so a dealer scan wouldn't find it.
My 2000 actually has a soldered chip, because I have 2 programs, and that wouldn't fit in the memory of just the ECU. (a single program flash over stock would have been fine). You could open up my ecu and definately tell somethings been done, but as far as flashing the memory, I don't know what you would do to tell who worked on it.
For the vagcom question, I paid for the real deal, so my cable cost me $229. I figured I'd pay more and not deal with any possible headaches of a knockoff cable.
