so the $30 Vag-Com cable on ebay doesnt work? Would it tell me if the car was chipped?

the $30 cable isn't guaranteed to work, it may, it may not.

If the chip software is encrypted, you probably couldn't tell who did it, or what was done, as far as I know.

Nope, VAG-COM can't see if you are chipped. And as for the knock off cable. YMMV, and unless you pay Ross Tech for an unlock code you are limited to a two year old release of the software and no support.

well if anyone was wondering i got my car back today, they replaced the boostvalve. The car is much slower now but atleast im not killing the turbo

feed back is very important then we can see the problem ( we are not magicians and only use your input to solve the problem ) your input is valuable

yea...im thinking a $150 boost machine is def. worth it if i can get that power back

Make sure you install a boost gauge before you do.

you wont get much.

the stock programming is pretty conservative, it'll put you in limp mode fairly easily if it reads boost higher than what it expects. To do much at all, you really need to be chipped.
