The filter works like this. Air comes into one side and down into the housing and then has to go through the little filter to get back out the other side. This way it doesnt let the oil (or water so it was made for) get past the filter and into the intake. Since the oil is to thick, it collects on the filter and then drains down into the housing. If it was backwards, the oil would rest inside the filter and block the air from flowing through it.

do you think there is any problem with the inlet of the air compressor filter being too small (1/4 npt)?
even if we put 1/2 or 3/8 male fittings, the air from the crankcase would still have to go thru the narrower 1/4 npt inlet...which can possibly restrict/cause pressure to the crankcase airflow (whereas there would have been none before)... i bought the husky filter to install on my mr2, but after some research decided not to, because the smaller inlet of the filter could restrict airflow.. i would assume it'd be a similar situation on our TTs...now I have a husky air filter with no use..but looks like you've had yours on for a while without any ill effects...sooo..hmmm.. |

I have it on 2 cars and never had an issue with either. Works great.

Yes the regulator valve on the intake. In the first pics i have it installed, shortly after those pics it was removed with a 90* fitting
