July 2008 avg $1.98 / 1 Pound
Aug 2008 avg $1.89 / 1 Pound

vs.

March 2009 avg $1.42 / 1 Pound

Thats a 25% drop in value against the dollar.

We paid $287. (25% off of that is $215). So all in all most of the drop can be attributed to the loss in value of the pound.

It is a combination of a rock-like drop in the pound, as well as a drop in the wholesale price from Race Diagnostics. I have plenty of units on hand right now that cost ME well more than what the TT Shop is charging - as I bought them 2-3 months ago. Also keep in mind that you will have to pay shipping charges over the ocean, as well as customs charges on a purchase from the UK - this all goes in to my cost basis as well. Keep in mind, too, that upgrades will need to occur in the UK, incurring much higher shipping charges every time you get an upgrade.

I didn't make anywhere near what you may be thinking in the group buy - my intent was to get the units out there, and drive up demand. It was mostly a break-even deal for me. That "new demand" really hasn't happened to this point either, and I am in a really tight spot right now, as my cost basis is higher than what some retailers are offering the units for.

The GB was no "scam", and I will stand behind the product I have sold, and the price I sold it for.

I love the look too, I just don't know how to get all of the aluminum piece off and don't know if it will look right leave some (for example the steering wheel, a/c controls, etc)

Yeah, on the list for powdercoat= radio door, ebrake button, triangal grab rails, inside door handles, steering wheel center(gonna rewrap the air bag in suede)., mainly just the bigger stuff. The headliner, door cards, and a pillars are gong the suede route also. Leaving the small(thin ring of aluminum)in the interior is ok. It brakes things up a little bit. I'm happy with the way the A3 vents turned out. They have a thin metal strip on them that matches the rest of the dash/guages perfectly. My focus was more on the bigger things that stick out at you. I might even try to wrap my dash in leather 2. Is the dash cover hard to get out?
