Default Cluster problems.. Any help please

hey mates,

I'm looking forward to change my AUDI TT's CLUSTER.. The speedometer isn't working, and when i turn on the car, the cluster starts to light on and off for like 10 seconds and then gets stable...

But the problem is that a person told me that If I changed the cluster, I will have to code new keys.. is it true?

You need to program the cluster. If you don't, the car won't start. I think the dealership is the only place that can do it.

You can have the cluster remanufactured for $250 and they turn it around fast. The only thing they don't fix is the center LCD display, but they fixed my temp, fuel, tach, and intermittent flickering and loss of power. Go to www.bba-reman.com.

what year is the car?

immobilizer equipped cars are a little more involved, but if you have a 00-01 car, theres a chance there is no immobilizer, and its just a matter of swapping clusters. If you buy a used cluster, all you CAN do is swap it. If you buy a new cluster, and you can get to an Audi dealership within 50 miles of installing it, they can set the odometer to read the correct mileage for the car.

It takes a torques bit, and a phillips screwdriver to change a cluster, I can do it in 15 minutes. If I ever have to do it again, I'll bring those two tools to the dealership, and swap the new one in right in the parkinglot.

True.

2002 roadster keys must be coded.

Had it done at dealer and they didn't tell me they did my key so when i got home and happened to use other key I didn't know what happened until I realized it needed that key coded as well.

So have it remanufactured and you don't have to recode anything. They don't wipe the non volatile memory. Seriously they get it in and out in a day and I haven't had any more problems.
