Clutch noise in neutral??
Just got a 2003 TT quattro with the APR stage 3+. Drives great, clutch does not slip etc.... but, when the car is in neutral and you let the clutch out there is a very light 'clacking' sound as if it is not fully disengaged. Push the clutch back in..sound goes away. It is an aftermarket clutch and a light weight flywheel was also put in. Both were done 1200 miles ago according to the receipt. Original owner said he had not noted this before. He is in his 50s and does not strike me as the kind to abuse a vehicle. Thoughts?
Interesting... I have had several high performance vehicles with upgraded clutch/flywheel combos but have never heard anything like this. Would the 'chatter' really only happen under these circumstances, but not at other times. This is my first Audi though... it this a common issue with TTs of Audis? Just kind of embarrasing. People look at you like "Beautiful car.....what's wrong with it?".
Yeah people always say something about it, they think its broke or something. I'm just like, dont you worry bout that sucka get in!! I just crank my radio. Its even worse when i turn on the AC.
Thanks folks...I feel much better. I can live with the noise as long as I know it is not a problem. The car is simply phenomenal to drive and I would hate to think I have to dive into repairs. You know how it is...get a new car, hear something unusual and think...'oh crap' did I get sold a lemon. Now I can just cruise along and simply enjoy the experience[&:]
