hi- I'm new here, have been reading some of the past posts and am impressed with the knowledge you all posess. I own a 2001 225 roadster wich is stock. Just took the car in for state inspection and it failed due to the check engine light being on. It was not on when I drove up. Anyway the code is p0118 which I looked up on this site and stands for" engine coolant temperature circuit- high input (low temp) A . Can anyone tell me in simple terms what this means and how to fix it? BTW the car seems to run fine. Thanks in advance-Siggy

 

its the coolent temp sensor. Its a simple fix, you can get it from the dealer for about $25 or order from ecstuning. They even have pics on how to install it on the link also.

 

Cincy, Thanks for the quick reply. I've had this car for 2 years now and this is the first problem of any kind. I'm 58 but when I get in and step on it a little I feel a whole lot younger. Thanks again for the info.

 

Just be happy you got a cheap and easy fix. Just dont let the dealer do it and charge you like a $100 for something simple that doesnt even need to be jacked up for or any special tools.

 

It didn't pass inspection because of a check engine light? Thats crazy, they don't even check to see if my exhaust is legal.

 

The light on isan automatic FAIL in most states. Even for something like his where it wasnt even emissions related.
