Cone filter for my TT
In the past I had a 97 audi a4 1.8t. I took the intake box off and mounted a K&N filter to my mas air flow sensor. It worked perfectly fine, ran faster and you could hear the turbo much better. Plus the Blow off was much louder. There was like one hose that runs to the air box, but it looks unimportant. So if I get the Cone filter for my TT this tube would be ventin to the engine compartment. It looks like it's the blow off hose. Does anyone think there will be a problem with running a filter right on my Mass air flow sensor, and if there would be a problem with leavin that hose unattached to anything. The hose is like 1 inch in diameter but doesn't look very important.
Thanks

Sounds like a smog component... I know there is a 3/4 inch hose from the breather on the engine to the air filter on a lot of cars (kind of looks like radiator hose.) It is part of California Smog. I can't think of anything else it would be. Seems like hooking up to the MAF would be a bad place for getting cold air into the engine though.
problem with running one of those filters (assuming its an oiled filter) is that the oil ends up on the MAF element, and you eventually end up with a CEL because of all the gummed up **** in your MAF.
WOW, I purchased the cone filter and installed it in the parking lot of advanced auto. It took like 6 minutes to do and cost me 24 bucks and was totally worth it. The turbo is like 3 times louder than before, the blow off sound is actually audible now, and it feels like i picked up 10 hp. Maybe I didn't but it sure feels like I did. I would recomend this to everyone with a turbo application, it makes the car much more fun to drive.

To be honest, I may actually try that. Got any pics?
That would be much appreciated! I actually went out to Discount Auto yesterday to pick up a fuse and I was looking at those cone filters. I ran back out to my car and popped the hood to see what all I would need and it seems like you would need some sort of adapter for the MAF to connect to the cone filter. What all did you do to get this to work exactly?
