Default Coolant level/Coolant Temp Light

Got in my car this morning (it sat since yesterday at 430PM) and as soon as I started the car the coolant temp/level light started beeping and flashing. I turned the car off knowing the temp wasn't high i checked the level and all was well. Thought about it, started the car back up and no light no problems. Is there something else going on or is this just an electrical odditity that our cars have? I'm just concerned there isn't some water pump failure or something catastrophic happening. I guess if i don't see it again i won't worry, but any opinions, or has this happened to anyone else? THanks!

Change the sensor from black to green. I had same problem. Warning signs of going bad.
