Question Coolant Thermostat is Faulty

Hey guys,

Here I'm, and I needed to

Well, My Audi TT 2008's MIL(Check Engine Light) was on last week, so, as per the appointment, I took it Audi service centre, and they have diagnosed the issue, and reported below is the cause

“MALFUNCTION LIGHT IS ON GFF CODE P2181 COOLING SYSTEM MALFUNCTION.
IT IS FOUND THAT THE COOLANT THERMOSTAT IS FAULTY”

They have quoted $1100 to replace the faulty coolant thermostat, and negotiated to $875. As I'm new to repairs and do not have any other genuine source of information, would appreciate if you can guys throw some light if that's the fare price, is it reasonable? According to the Rep, Part only costs 100 but Labor costs 1000, I am totally lost, is that really super complicated to fix/replace or total waste of money?

Happy weekend to you guys, and thanks for reading.
