Cool Couple of Qs

Okay...I've gone through the manual and didn't get my questions answered and thought I'd ask one of the experts here since y'all might know more than the manual.

1. When I take my '05 TT to work I like to eat lunch and kick back in my car listening to a CD or radio for an hour or so. However, I can't seem to get the ignition key in the right position without the seat belt bell dinging for several minutes. In my ricey vehicles it's a non-issue since the the setting is a piece of cake. Any advise other than sitting in the car with the seat belt on in a non-moving vehicle?

2. I have our Valentine radar unit plugged into the cigarette lighter. Again in the ricey cars I turn off the ignition and the radar unit shuts off. In the TT it stays on all the time. I have finally adapted to turning to off manually...my husband forgets. I know it won't kill the battery but it is annoying. If y'all tell me to get use to it I'm cool with that but if you know a way of dealing with this I'd be grateful.

Thanks so much for answering these goofy questions.

Happy New Year!

Or you could just turn on the radio without the key.

Only way to have the radar turn on and off with the car is a hardwire kit. It's pretty easy and there are a lot of how to writeup's online.

Thank you for the tips guys. I really appreciate it and the links.

Although the music is up I can still hear the stupid ding...guess I can go louder.

The Valentine goes from car to car, as does the Passport radar detector. We have five cars/trucks/SUVs and about 7 motorcycles, two of which use the Valentine. I think we will get a dedicated Valentine for the TT and hardwire it like the link Wintermute provided.

Again...much thanks!

You can hardwire the v1 and still use it in several cars. All you do is get the hardwire kit and keep the cig power adapter. Then you still have all the parts and thus can move it from car to car.

i'm surprised at the number of people who didn't realize you could listen to the radio without the key even being in the ignition.

And yeah, it plays for an hour and shuts itself back off.

achTTung I think part of the problem is a large number of other cars are made so you have to use the key to listen. Knowing the radio turns off after an hour is very helpful and I plan to try it next week.

Thanks! You've taught me a lot about my TT and I'm grateful.
