Default DIY: V1 Hardwire Install

Tools needed:
Tork T25 bit.
Tork T25 driver.
Flat Head driver.
Ratchet for the small bit.
Ratchet for the ground nut.
Radioshack; Fuse tap (1), Ring Terminal (1), Female Flag Crimp-On (1)

First start by pulling off the fuse panel.

Now unscrew the 8 bolts.

Unscrew the 2 bolts underneath dash.

Be gentle pulling off the lower dash. There are 3 plugs connected, disconnect each. Time your time.

With this heavy POS out of the way make your way to the fuse panel. Pop this piece off the part with all the fuses.

Next take your acc/hardwire from the V1 box.

With pliers cut the end of the red wire off.

Now crimp on the Female Flag Crimp-On. Next cut the black wire of & crimp on the Ring Terminal. Now there is a ground underneath the dash that the black wire goes on. Be gentle using a ratchet it's quite weak.

Now I used fuse 27 for the fuse tap. Push it in the slot you pulled it out of with the fuse tap on the fuse.

Now setup your V1 mount. I used the windshield suction cups.

Feed the wire sideways between the windshield & headliner. This is the hardest part setting it up. Use a flat head to push it in. Follow all the way down the pillar & zip tie the extra.

Feed other end through this hole.

Shove it up behind the cluster.

Now screw two bolts reattaching fuse box to panel with red wire going behind panel for stealthlyness.

Turn on car, not engine to test if v1 runs correctly. Now turn off & put lower dash back on. Take your time you might knock off the metal pieces for the screws off.

Make sure long odd green piece goes in the middle between the metal clip & panel.

Screw the rest of the tork screw back on & enjoy! PM me if you have questions.

just a fyi usually the tint at the very top of a windsheld is reflective and causes poor radar detector performance.

can't you just hardwire it to the dome light switch with an inline fuse? Seems that would only take 10min tops. And you wouldn't see any wires.

I took that into account. I have it sitting a lower than that & I havn't had any trouble, it's been in the same spot for over a year.

Yes you could. I chose not to because a ground is not that easy to attach & I didn't want to shove 4 wires along with a RJ-45 connection up in there. The way I ran it the bulk of the wire is under the dash along with the accessory connection for future remote concealed display. I would hate wires hanging out in front of my face.
