Do I need a diode?

Default Do I need a diode?

I installed a MBC in place of the n79 valve and I disconnected the n249 & other solenoid that controlled the diverter valve & ran it direct to the intake.
The n79 & other items are still plugged in but have nothing running to them or away from them to control vacuum.
So.........the big question is.......what would the diode do for me?
I ran a quick jaunt down the road & saw 20psi for a very short time & got nervous. After some fine tuning I would hope to get a max boost of 18-19 if I can put it there.
Will the car go into limp mode even though it cannot control the boost & then limit spark or something else?
Even after I saw 20 just now I could give it fuel and it would respond with boost over 10psi so I havent hit limp yet. (that I know of)
I do see that I will need a better d/v due to the boost overpowering it...or maybe that was my foot letting off
Thanks,
Eric

Default I still need it

After a little longer drive I realize there is no way around getting a diode. 2 blocks away from the house & I hit soft limp mode & the car wouldnt stay at any boost above 10-12psi & then it would drop back to 5psi very quickly.
I dont fully understand how it can limit boost but it still does it.

I will reset the soft limp & drive a little bit easier until I get a diode in place.
It was fun while it lasted though.....Cant wait to get a diode & find out what it really feels like with 18-20 lbs of boost.
After I get the diode & a better D/V
Which should I replace 1st?
The intake pipe or the charge pipes?

What do you think?
Thanks,
Eric
