Default EPC Issue

Hello All - I m new to this Forum. I have browsed several posts in regards to this issue, some appeared helpful then just went off on a tangent.

First off my car: 2000 Audi TT Quattro 1.8 5spd

Sequence of events that led to my tow home.

Started car in the evening, somewhat warm for New England weather. As the car began to crank it almost sounded like the initial crank was gonna die on me but it didn't. It did however sit for about 2 weeks and i put in a nice bulky brand new Die Hard bad boy in there.

So i back it out, park it, shut off engine, mount new license plate to back window - stupid bumper bolts broke off from rust - sighs.

Okay, start car up again and drive to the gas station - this time it started up without any issues or hesitation in the cranking. The dash lights are still on - ABS and air bag - nothing else.

Driving to gas station car was smooth, bit of grinding from the rust on the brake discs...but it cleared away quick.

park at the gas station - run in for some mountain dew - video game night :-)

hop back into the car - turn key - NOTHING - not a click - All i hear is the fuel pump turn on and charge fuel line pressure. Now EPC light, Check Engine Light, ABS light, and Air Bag Light are illunminated.

My instant thought was - clutch switch might be bad.

Well had pops come down with jumper cables just in case dead battery - but come on, fresh Die Hard - those batteries are awesome! Well jumper cables didn't do anything either.

what I do know is ABS light is for Front passenger wheel sensor - have that - havnt replaced it yet. Air bag light, probably from when i removed both front seats and cleaned the carpets.

So what I am asking here for a fairly decent troubleshooting process to figure out whats the problem here - i am not getting any codes from my scan tool - wish i had something better primarily for audi but my $$ are limited right now.

Can a Bad Alternator be the issue? If you know someone who had a similar problem with there TT please ask them. I am not interested in your A4 and other model issues - this is for the TT please. Thank You.
