yes, but for the 27th time. A car with a ATC engine (2000 or early 01) has ASRwhere aFWD car can disableand there is no button to turn it off on the AWD car. I am glad you can read and type the manual, even after i told you what you have and how it works. Id hold your hand and walk you through it further, but my car is at the shop 50miles away.
That's nice.

Why then does my car in fact have an ESP button on the dash, and work exactly as the manual says? The manual from the manufacturer and designer of the car. I was only asking for clarification, not sarcasm and patronization.

Then your car is not a 00, has to be a 01 with a AWP engine

And you got talked to that wayas a return for the lack of respect given

I didn't speak disrespectfully. I asked a sincere question because I felt we may have seriously been talking about different things. Not everybody on the internet is inherently rude, and shouldn't be immediately treated as so.

I'm not sure about the year. I bought it as a 2000, and the manuals and dealer slip all say 2000. It might be possible that they're the wrong papers, though. Is there any way to be sure?

I have a late model 2000 TTQC with an ATC engine code with ESP. i usually leave it on unless i plan to have a little fundriving. from what i understand early models didn't have ESP and it was offered as an option after the susp. and spoiler recalls. can definitely tell the difference with it on or off on the crappy roads in my locality or with spirited launches.

Thanks! Good to know that it's probably been in for the recall already.

Does anybody drive there car with the ESP turned off on a regular basis? What exactly does this do? Does it handle better?
I dont think anyone ever answered your ?. I mainly turn mine off in good weather or when i feel like driving it hard. WHat it does is it pulls power away from the wheels when it believes the tires are slipping to much. You in other words, the revs are still there, but its like pushing on the clutch or putting it in neutral since the power is not
THANK YOU CINCY!! Thats exactly what I wanted to know.

Interesting my 2000 180 TTQC with the ATC engine code has a build date of 9/99 (evil when doing handstands).
Has been in for the recall (I know because I have a spoiler), yet does not have ESP/ASR.
Whoever the original owner was I heart them!

yeah, not many owners went with the ESP option unlike the spoiler and control arms.
