Default Fault code p1340

Hey people I just got this 2000Audi TT quattro 2 days ago with the check engine light on and today when I went to smog check it the car passed everything but the engine light....The code that came up is p1340 camshaft position sensor or something like that, my question is have any of you delt with or heard of this problem before?

The actual Diagonstic Trouble Code P1340. For what it's worth.
Crankshaft-/Camshaft Pos. Sens. Signals Out of Sequence.

hey ttkid check your shop receipt and see what they replaced....just the cam sensor? its around 100 bucks on ecstuning.com

thanks becca i figured thats where it was....i have no idea why it wouild go bad...but thats autoparts for ya...if its the Orig then i understand lol

out of sequence my data says ( is it lose? is the wiring ok and the connector plugged in tight ) I had that problem with a vauxhall omega[:@]because it was an inline engine and the cam sensor was on the front of the engine and above the rocker cover so every time I leaned over the engineer it upset the cables

Mine threw that code turned out the timing belt had stretched....
