either way im pretty sure the timing belt has to come off to replace that sensor so you mine as well put a new one on im not quite sure on that tho id have to check my bentley i think theres two hex screws holding it in and you might be bale to get it off and new one on without removing the timing belt

ok so this is what i get with vag com 1 Fault Found: 17748 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) / Engine Speed Sensor (G28): Incor. Correlation P1340 - 35-00 - -
also checked for misfires had them in three cyclinders....gonna get new coilpacks and see what happens.
anymore ideas?

Yeah I was reading up on this in my manual... Which says the shutter wheel for the CMP sensor may not be lined up properly.
That you can tell if it's mounted improper by the locking lug getting squished when the mounting bolt is tightened.
Sorry no pictures for this part...
However, it says to check this after checking the voltage of the sensor.

Why are you buying coilpacks? They are more than likely misfiring, because the camshaft sensor is acting up.

Also check out germanpartsonline.com . You may be able to get parts a little bit cheaper from them.
