Default FMIC Problems....Pretty bad I think! HELP!

Just mounted an FMIC on my 00' 180 Quattro and now my turbo is running really hot...like smoking/burning/fumes hot, but none of my intercooler pipes are very hot. I can hear air going through, so I know it's not clogged. I'm not really sure what went wrong, but something is definately bad. Please help!!!
this is how I pipped up the system:

Items used:
2 1/4' mandral bent metal pipe
2 1/4' NAPA belt hose
steel hose clamps
Electrical tape

I don't know what the deal is...please help!!!

One of the pipes carry the hot air from the turbo should be hot going into the FMIC and the other cooler. I think you might have had a hose come loose somewhere. I had a problem like this at first as the higher boost would force the hose loose even though it was clamped down. Make sure all hoses are really clamped down.

you should also feel a power drop if a hose popped off.

Turn the lights off and look at the turbo.

Glowing hot turbos are pretty.

you stole my picture =/

if you run into any issues mounting it up that way once you get this worked out, let me know. i was going to run mine that way obviously.
Like someone else said, some of the hoses should heat up to some degree but if you are positive the turbo is abnormally hot, I would pull it apart and take another look at it.

is the stock SMIC 2.25"? I'm trying to figure out if i need to get a reducer for my 2.5" before I pull the front end off and cant drive anywhere. I should have measured it when I did the TB.

heres a thought....not sure though this is leaving me scratching my head. anyway, is it possible the intercooler you have is causing a pressure drop the in turn is forcing the turbo to work harder. by this i mean instead of where the car used to begin to dump off excess gases throught the wastegate its keeping those gases to reach the needed boost level. i.e wastegate actuated at 3000 rpm before, now due to pressure loss boost controller doesnt actuate until 4000rpm. and obviously higher rpm is hotter. just a shot in the dark.

people have used the eurojet race kits (2.5" piping and larger core than he has) with only a few psi in pressure drop. I dont think its that. He has to have a large leak somewhere. Check your hose connections and try again.
