1000 for the APR is cheap compared to other performance cars FMICs and for the performance you get from it its def worth the price

I had problems with everything on the 180 kit. Plus the ic is only big enough for stock turbos since its on par with ebay cores.
The tCarbon?

The core always looked bigger than stuff like TunerStop to me.
bigger doesnt always mean better

Add that in with the 180 kits.... whew, thats for from ideal. A nicer denser core of equal size will support 500+hp easy where this one peaks at about 300hp.

I'm suprised I haven't seen the original question asked before.

And with the insight to realize it would probably affect flow!

I think the noobs are getting smarter around here.

Agreed. Flow will definitely be affected. More than would be gained by the side mounts remaining. Take them off and sell them on a civic forum you should be able to get a buck and some change toward a better FMIC.

Cincy, Are you taking deposits or setting up payment plans?

So what do you guys think about an Ebay core if you were just doing smaller mods like intake/exhaust/chip, for somebody who doesn't intend of going past 300hp? Is a FMIC even necassary since the 225 seems to have a decent cooling system with the twin side mounts?

this is a crazy idea. i think everyone agrees that a stock intercooler isn't enough for higher boost and hp applications. as cincy showed above, you have to be carfull on which one you buy. but here is the crazy idea, would you spray your radiator with water to cool your engine?no, you would use a fan right! has anybody tried mounting a intercooler fan? if a raditor fan can cool your coolant from 100+ celcius to 80 c, i think a fan could assit your stockic very well, esp if you are stoped at idle to prevent the heat soak. i mean, after all, when your driving down the interstate, your stock ic are getting quite a bit of air forced through them and they work quite well, and we don't have much of a heat soak issue then, but when we are stationary, like on a dyno, the large fmic helps. 2 cents. just a crazy thought.

I don't think you willbe able to find a fan that is small and efficient enough.

On paper the idea looks ok.
When you look at how much space you actually have, and howmuch air a radiator fan moves to cool it... Not so good.
