G201 - ESP Light ON/ABS OFF - only in winter
So I got the dreadful ESP light on last winter (only when the weather warms up from say -20C to single digit negatives). All summer ESP worked flawlessly, got an alignment done. This winter, fell below -30C and worked its way back up to single digit negatives this week and same dreadul ESP light came on. It first came on when i accelerated hard out of a corner I think and stayed on regardless how many times I on/offed the car.
Cleared the ABS fault codes few times and finally the ESP lights went off (ABS light never came on before but they do flash when accessing the ABS module on vag-com). Drove out and it came back on in 5 minutes... grrr. Did a scan to see what was actually wrong and this came up:
1 Fault Found:
01435 - Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201)
57-00 - Electric Circuit Failure
Did some research and have NO idea what to do. Do I really try my luck with the brake switch before anything else? Can I just buy the G201 sensor or can I get it repaired/cleaned? Can it be the wheel speed sensors? Should I just attribute it to cold gremlins? MAF???
I believe ABS and Haldex still works but hell I could spin the wheels crazy now and I doubt ESP is doing anything to bring me back into a straight line. Any help would be much appreciated!
PS. when I had wheel spin in 1st accelerating hard and then shifted to 2nd on an icy road, the engine does bog, while the ESP light was on (rare occurance).
