Default GIAC tune question

I am getting a 3 inch highflow (200 cell) downpipe and was told by the shop that I would need a stage II tune. My question is, is GIACs tune equal to stage II? I have the new X file and I know that their site says you should have an intake and improved exhaust so I would think the tune shouldnt throw a cell code but am not sure. Thanks.

i think if you were to throw a code it would be from the o2 censor after the cat. I think there is some way around this though. Ask somebody with a 42DD downpipe. they should know

Not sure about the mk 2's.
You may be better off calling your local GIAC shop, and finding out directly from the source.
When ya find out share the knowledge!
Oh, and I'm jealous of your soon to be exhaust... Remus FTW!!

GIAV says they dont change anything that deals with the cat throwing a code so if it would throw a code on stock tuning then it would on the chip too. But when I went to a highflow cat on my 02 TT with a bigger diameter it didnt throw a code so I am wondering if this one will. Its a GHL 3 inch with metal cat so I think its of good quality and that will go to my axel back Remus which is still 2.5 inch.
