GIAC'd ecu swap, problems and solutions
wow that thread gets crazy off topic, but thanks, there is some good info there. I am waiting to hear back from some giac distributors as to whether they can/willl socket my existing ecu to fit the chips.
what it sounds like, you should be able to swap chips, but not ecu from car to car. But a giac dealer might be able to install theusd ecu into your car. But im still confused on the subject.
I am sure you could have your chip removed and have them replace the stock one, but I if you wanted to change vendors, I would just get in touch with that vendor to see if they can reflash the stock chip on the giac socket. you dont really want to have desolder the socket unless absolutely neccessary
me too. I really want to get this chip set going on my ecu. If i could get the new ecu and my car to cooperate, that would be fine too, but getting my native one socketed is cheaper than a vag com to get the new ecu to work. Hopefully I can find a giac dealer to help me out, I've emailed a few but I dont expect anythign till at least Monday.
i got my car with a giac, and only found out about it till later... im going BT but the giac appears to be a pain in the @ss ... now im pretty pissed at GIAC tuning. its 250 $ for an ecu thats stock .. used... if i want the 440CC file from eurodyne or uni. and i need to find out how much to remove the chip from the giac vendor
