You can remove it without taking off the bumper. The bumper removal can be a pain especially on the 225. The twin intercoolers get in the way when removing the screws hiddenbehind the wheel well guard. I was able to get mine off with out removing the bumper butI broke over half the clips that hold it on. I just tugged really hard applying equal force on both sides.
I didn't really have any trouble removing my bumper, SMIC's weren't really in the way. Hell, I didn't even remove my wheel on the pass side, just pried the inner fender liner out of the way, and cranked the wheel to the side.

My trouble was I didn't have a proper size driver. The smallest one I had was too large to fit between the head of the screw and the intercooler. I had to use just the torx screwdriver bit and a pair of needle nose pliers...what a pain as you can imagine. I have only removed the bumper once and that was to install my FMIC. It was easy as pie untilI got to those screws.

I did it without the bumper off. took the top screws off then with a flathead screw driver i popped the clips and pulled

I did it without removing the bumper. I did not want the stock grille, so I cut it in peices and removed it. The new grille just pops in. Did it in 20 min.
