Default Grinding Gears... =o

Well, I was driving semi-aggresivly today and noticed a loud clunk/grind noise when i downshifted to 3rd. Then I let off and came to a stop light, and from 1st, while engaging the clutch i hear the clunk/grinding again., and seems like my gears are slipping or not engaging 100%

Any ideas what it could be?

Syncros or your clutch.
Once in a blue moon I'll get a clunk, but never a grind.
When was the last time you changed your tranny fluid?

sweet, thanks! I'm not sure when the last time i changed my tranny fluid is, I just hit 66,000 today. What kind brand do you guys recommend?

Oh, I noticed that at 60mph my rpm range is around 3k-3.2k and I was wondering if this was normal, just seems a weebit higher than normal.

Most use redline MT-90, avaliable at ecs tuning... but I like to be different and use the Motul gear fluid, avaliable at pure motorsport... no more grinding here.

dont know about the rpms... you have a 5spd so your ratios are different than mine.

In 5th going 60 MPH, 3k rpms sounds about right.

That's about right. At highway speeds the needles are ALMOST in the same positions.

I changed mine out with Royal Purple full syn a couple months ago. Synchros are much smoother and the overall shift action is much better. Was a pretty easy job.

Did MT-90 in mine, now my 1-2 upshift is smooth as a baby's butt. Well almost....
