As I stated this has nothing to do with Audi's, TT's or really even cars for that matter. - I posted this in a different thread, but I started to think and am wondering what everyones views are on the issue. - I know alot of us have been in accidents etc and delt with insurrance companies. - I hired an lawyer to deal with my medical injuries and payments etc. - However I'm going to ask progressive for $400k - Do you think I should this is to little? - Or do you think its just right? or do you think it is to much? - (For those of you who dont agree with suing, dont respond, because it will just get into a debate that no one will agree with.)

-Heres my story :

Well last month I was hit by a van while riding my motorcyle. - Head on with no helmet.

This video is VERY similar to what happened to me:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zl7KoeVIh-k

Anyways, I walked away alive obviously, but I tore my ACL in my right leg, brused the bones in my left knee to the core. (Hurts more than the ACL) - Believe it or not. - Broke a bone in my hand. - Had a head injury obviously, sprained neck/back and screwed up my right wrist and shoulder.

Our opinions don't really matter. I say 5 million, because you never know what's going to come up down the road as far as health issues from this.

What really matters is what your lawyer can get you, the most he can get you without having the judge dismiss your claim as frivolous.

What would you deem an obserd amount of money? - I dont want to be greedy, but seriously I'm looking for long life issues as well. - Obviously being young I'm going to blow some of it on a car, but the rest will be invested and held incase something goes wrong later in life health wise.[] - I'm just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue, howe things worked out with there lawyers...etc

what kind of coverage did the driver of the van have?

say he only has enough insurance to cover $100k and you ask for $400k. There is a $300k defecit that you may never ever see... if the guy has no money why ask for more than $400k?

This doesn't answer any of your questions but I just wanted to say the thought of riding a motorcycle with no helmet scares me... I've been riding over 10 years... Good to hear you made it out mostly in one piece.

I'm not sure quite yet what his insurrance is, my lawyer is looking into it. - I know what they dont cover they will then sue my insurrance company for ...if I understand correctly.

As for a no helmet, it was stupid of me, I normally wear one, however I just ran to the video store..... problem is....I just thought because it was a short trip I was safe. - The answer is not at all

Even 5 minute trips aren't safe. I've had friends fall off their bikes in their driveway & get hurt. I was gonna say have your lawyer look into it or actually google it & see if anymore else has had the same thing happened to them.

Other people whom I've talked to with similar injuries recieved around $500k - I'm not in it for the money, I'm just trying to get enough money to insure that if something DOES continue to give me issues later I can cover myself or pay someone to help me move things...etc. - Accidents are accidents...so its not about the money...its about keeping myself protected. ya know?

However a DB9 would make me feel better

I work for UPS & seriously when guys get hurt it's big, not just ow my leg for like I'm on the floor & can't get back up. My back is the biggest thing I worry about with heavy lifting, & that can take awhile before it starts showing signs. One of my friends had a mountain of boxes fall on her at work & she can walk around fine but sitting down for long periods or trying to sleep drives her crazy.
