WOW calm down cincyTT!!!! I wouldn't do anything stupid like blowing up my trans. These are just questions. This Audi of mine is a play toy for me. So if it blows, oh well, i can get it fixed. I'm just so use to my 89 928 S4 Porsche and having that raw power and the RWD. I thought I could just change something about the TT and be different. I'll just keep it as is!. It sthe best thing to do. Thank you for everyone's input

So that I don't have to post a new thread. My friend jsut got an 02 TT quattro. He doesn't want to go out and spend $700 to $2300 on a exhaust system( I have the APR Turbo back exhaust ,which is great) So he is thinking that he can just cut off the rear muffler and make the piping 2.5 all the way back from the cat and just put dual tips. Would you recommend him to dothat? I told him NO, but from another persons point of view, what would you say?

he wouldnt have to cut anything, the cat is part of the dp and the catback i held on by just a sleeve. There are a handful of people running setups like that but it can get annoying due to droan and loud at wot.

There would be a slight gain of say 5 bhp or so. The stock exhaust system is heavy and the stock mufflers do add to back pressure against the turbo. Most of the back pressure however, is the found in the stock cats.
Also, here isan email chain between Waheed Kahn (Waks-TT.com) and an engineer from Haldex... Disabling Haldex Controller.

there willa good gain, atleast 10hp through most of the powerband. I still rather have some strait through muffler that wont cause any restriction but will quite the exhaust down.
The regular 1.8t cats dont really seem to be a big restriction, i dont know why/if they would put on a less flowing cats on a 225.
