Default Have your a/c checked!

My mechanic told me my compressorhad gone bad, probably becausethe freon had gotten low and the low pressure switch (if it has one) didn't shut it down, thereby allowing the compressor to wear itself out. If you've had your tt for more than 2 or 3 years, have someone look it over.

The pressure in my system was fine and my compressor took a dump (8yrs old and 100k miles). Just got a slightly used one installed.

yeah, its not just refrigerent in there, the AC system has lubricant circulating as well. Low on one means low on the other, which is why compressors go bad.

you do, not everyone else does. More of a tip for future reference for the few that actually DO use the search.

if you do not use your ac reguarly (ie: only use it 6 months during summer), the oil does not circulate in the compressor where the belt spins it. If you don't want your compressor to break run your ac for 30 secconds every week or so. Defrost runs the compressor in winter.

how much should an AC pressure switch cost at a mechanic, not dealer?
