Default headlight lenses

The headlight lenses on my 2001 225 tt coupe are so yellow I have to keep my brights on at night most of the time just so I can see a reasonable distance. I've tried some of the products for clearing them, but when I compare them to the lenses on a new car, I realize just how bad they really are. Anyone have a handle on how much it would cost to replace them?

New plastic is not available. Full light assemblies (used) are usually in the 200-400 dollar range.

Have you tried the 3m lens repair or renewal kits? I used the 3m renewal kit ((#39014) on one lens, with deep scratches, and it did a very good job of getting it out. Not completely out, but reduced by 80-90% or so.

Before: Big F'n scratches.

After: Small f'n scratches.

cheers.

Try sanding then buffing them with a buffer. If that doesn't work I have a set of headlights that I can sell yah. they have no cracks, leaks & are in perfect working condition.

I found a video of a bunch home remedies and stuff that you might want to try before shelling out hundreds of dollars.

should only cost you about 100-150 for a PROFESSIONAL headlight restoration. I had both of mine done and they look awesome. see ifthere is a headlight DR. in your phone book. the problem with the DIY kits, is that they dont have a liquid clear to coat the surface with. you can sand and polish them forever, but unless you have a clear liquid to spray on them your results are going to be limited.
