Are they not called headlight washers?

The search turned up next to nothing on them.

Anyway, I've never seen how they function.
I decided to take video of them today.
I posted it here in case anyone else out there has no friends smart enough to wash the windshield.

Are they just supposed to fire a quick burst, then stop?

Headlight washers might not bring up many hits, you might do a little better searching for 'aliens'

Yeah, I thought they were referred to as aliens, but I didn't find much more under that title either.
