Default help car just died

hello everyone,
this has not been my day...
it started of great, i got the boost gauge mounted, started the car then i heard a clicking sound on the right side, it was intermittent so i shut it off.
waited a few minutes enough to clean around the car then started it again, the clicking sound was still there, so i tapped the gas little bit but it was still there, i let it idle the and then all of a sudden the car just shut off WTF.........this is frustrating.
checked all the fuse with a multimeter, none was blown.
the car would turn over but will not run.
all of the electrical works.
please anyone help...
tia

Default RE: help car just died

hello again everyone
cel is one but that was due to a blown chk valve from w/c the dealership ordered and i had replaced it already.
i also installed a forge dvf and redid a few vacuum lines.
during the starting, it doesn't seem to have any compression...timing belt i hope not..........
if it is so, what are the chance of the internals being f'd up just idling?
thanks everyone.

I think most of the damage comes when it's in motion. Hang on I'll check the Audi AESIS and see what it says...

Sounds like the timing belt is gone. How many miles on it? You heard the rattle if you are lucky and shut it down before you damaged the valves or piston. The most common symptom of a broken TB is turning over and not starting.

Where did you install the boost gauge? FPR or the DV?

ouTTie914,
boost gauge is mounted on top of the left vent (single autometer pod)with the wires running through the vent.
forge dv mounted where the original dv was with the blow off facing towards the engine.

XCLR8TT,
the car has 92k miles on it, i aked the dealer if they had done a timing belt prior to it going back on the lot and they said no, due to the audi guideline they have indicates that the car's belt is good for 105k.....can't argue as i have no proof of it in BW to show them aside from the forum's recommendation.
i heard a clicking sound intermittent and then it shut off by it self.

P1Zl3,
it's an 01 tt quattro, it says AMU on the block when i removed the cover.
please tell me it didn't damege any valves prior to it shutting down......please......

thanks everyone for the replies, keep it coming

your going to have to test the compression of each cylinder, but before that check timing belt, water pump, and tensioner

wish i can but i have no compression gauge.
what woul be an indication if there are any other components damged?
when trying to start the car there seem to be no compression and there doesn't seem to be any other unusualnoises.

if the belt is not broken, just skipped a couple teeth, would this not make it run? and if did would the valves be f'd up.
at the beginning i mentioned a clicking soung would this be the valves tapping?
say it ain't so......
thanks

sounds like you bent some valves and they are making contact with the pistons. You may have some large bills coming your way. You wouldnt have any compression if the valve(s) dont close fully
