I've never seen it taken that far, but I've seen plates painted to look original, but not be reflective. I believe the thinking is that you're removing a target to point a laser at.

i think they are. They are like 4" arent they?
What do the oem exhaust tips look like in that diffuser? That is weird they dont fill the cutouts.

 

From the angles that you typically view the rear of the car standing up you don't see the gap as much. It's a little odd looking at eye level and straight back like the shot, but that's just not the way you see it day to day.
