the 180 stuff is almost done. when thats done, i will find a 225 and mock up one. Also, you do realize that the jump from a 2871r to a 3076r is rather large? You are going from one that will make high 300whp to one that will make low 500whp. A 150whp jump is pretty big imho.

 

i did realize that. i was wondering even tho the 3076r is able to push out that much power. i can tune it down rite?? the only reason i was thinking the 3076r is cus i seen that camaro said he got the kit for around 4500. and that is the price range i was interested in. also after that, once i do the rods i'd be in the clear. cus i think i need a cluth anyways. i think mine is due. i have 90k on it. so i guess i'm really hopeing to do all this by next summer. one of the reasons i wanted to know how the fmic was comin along? thanks by the way.

 

you don't have to make 500hp with it...

2 trains of thought on this:

1.) A buy a big turbo.
Pro: Room to make more power.
Con: Unneccesary Lag

2.) Buy the smallest turbo you can to meet your HP goal.
Pro: Minimal lag
Con: Need to upgrade turbo again to make more power.

 

My point is he has no idea what he wants and want to jump 150whp worth of turbo. A 3071r would of been a more logical jump. As for the $4500, that is with a tial housing which adds about another $150-200 to the cost. If he went with a normal T25 housing 2871r he would save ~$500 and another 600rpms or so of lag. I totally agree with not under sizing your turbo, but if you want 350whp, a gt3076r isnt the best turbo, ya know?

Please read the BT and HP sticky to get a better idea on what these turbos produce and spool before deciding on anything, plus there are lots of dynos on vwvortex

 

I'm not sure which kit it is exactly that is 4500 bux you have to keep in mind the clutch is gonna be around another 1000 bux and I just assume it doesn't come with a downpipe 300 bux, FMIC 500 bux, rods plus install min 500 bux w/ rings, rod bearings, gaskets and doing the labor youself, professional install 1000-1500 bux for rods and if you get everything professionally installed you are looking at a lot more. My advice is think things threw, know exactly what you are getting into and make sure if you do the work yourself you research every aspect.

Edit: IIRC GIACTT aka Blowncamaro's kit may have been 4500 but his project totaled out at over $8000.00 IIRC

 

yeah i know that cincy. but it's like RWD said. i may get 350hp but what happens when i don't that is enough. everyone here wants faster faster. i think i'd be happy with 350hp. but then again when my buddy puts in a gt30 in his gsr and bets me i'm gonna be pissed lol. even tho i keep tellin him all that power just to spin the tires. he already spins till 4th gear. I'm not sure which way i'm gonna go to be honest. all depend on money and trying to find a new job. :/ just getting ideas.

I live in NYC, and I work on my cars at my parents house in PA.

I drive through middletown all the time going there.

My car sat at the VW dealer there for a week because my TB snapped on 17, i think near exit / mile marker 127

 

that VW SUCKS. they didn't know anything about my car. i cut the wrong hose to hook up my boost gauge cus they told me THAT hose rite there. lol. i hope u didn't pay for them to do the job. there is a lil shop about 2 miles away from there that is alot better. but i mostly go to warwick to get my stuff done. what are you gonna have done to your TT?
