I ran summer tires for a bit in the snow till I got winter tires...man that was an experience. Had a close call with a tele pole...

Just imagine if they were wider... that would make it worse. In becca's case, they were.

Looks like someone is going to need a new crash bar, front bumper, radiator and maybe a headlight (i cant tell). That is going to get pricey and fast.

That's what collision insurance is for, thankfully!
New crash bar, grille, bumper, radiator, and side skirt on the driver's side. Headlights are fine, I didn't check the horn.
Also I may possibly need a new alien.
What's looks like damage to the pass headlight is actually part of the bumper that cracked.
My rings were half way off of the grille, and the part you can't see due to the hydrant was in pieces on the ground.

Yeah I'm running summer tires, which are not damaged; the rims are in perfect shape as well.
The airbags didn't deploy, probably because I was going ~5 MPH when I hit the sign and hydrant.
I'm not sure if I'm going to get a aftermarket bumper. The stock look suites me, so I'll probably keep it that way.

Quattro doesn't do a damn thing when there's a snow plow in front of you leaving a nice smooth trail of packed down snow/ice! [&o]
Man, you are nuts running summer tires in the winter. Those things are not only dangerous but can be deadly. I have been running through ice and snow here in Indiana without even a hint
of sliding thanks to my Dunlop 3d winter tires. Those things are great when things aren't so great outside.

Yeah, it's an expensive lesson learned....
I TOLD you, IN PERSON, that it was not at all a good idea to run summer sport tires in the winter, and infact its dangerous.

I'm sorry to see it happen, but you can't blame a plow when you KNOW it was the tires, and you knew you shouldn't have been driving on them.

4 snows on steel rims cost about as much as the damage you did to your car, and you're lucky it wasn't a person or another car that you hit.

I don't want to sound like an ***, but I'm not suprised it happened, and I'm a little disappointed that you ignored a pretty serious safety concern.

You have known her long enough to know not everything sinks in with her. You would think car, large amounts of money, and safty would strike something. Oh well, cant fix.... nvm

funny enough i had this same conversation with a co-worker who was insisting to me that summer tires and winter tires dont matter and that its all a gimmick to get people to buy more and more.

needless to say his car became a write off 2 days ago. the police told him that had he had snow tires his braking distance on icy/snowy terrain would have been decreased significantly enough that he would have been safe.

yet again this shows that there is a real difference for winter/summer tires.
