I've got one of these and I need to know the following questions...

After looking over the installation process - and the needing to remove the front end to do this - how do you service the filter? Does this require the same disassembly to get to it for cleaning?

I'm sitting with this thing and I'm thinking about selling it and going with the Modshack or the CDC unit - but this only if this CAI is as much a hassle to keep clean (even at every 30k or 50k mile intervals) as it is to install.

Gracias, m'amigoes, for your input!

Well, if you've got to remove the bumper to get the filter on, I'd say this thing is probably more like a straw than a CAI. (when it comes to water, that is).

I'd go with a modshack unit! I made my own intake which works very well, but I want the sound of the modshack model, so I'm ordering a VTDA later today... (VTDA is louder, but higher performance).

It is likely as hard to maintain as it is to install, I see no indication that it could be any otherwise.

Let us know what you decide!

Yeah, so it would seem - but everyone recommended it on other forums - everyone here are Modshack employees I'm thinking - lol

This was the very first mod I bought for my car a month after I got it. I got a great deal on this Injen so I'm sort of reluctant to give up on it and there are some on here that have bought the Injen CAI and I'm curious if it's worth the hype and maybe I'm not seeing the big picture...

But I'm with you, the Modshack CAI is nice - but I'm not going for sound with the VTDA model... If you want sound, my Hyperboost HX diverter valve sounds wicked lol

But honestly, Racer - I want something that's easy to maintain not modified to the point of being unservicable... is this the wrong approach here?

Palindari, I hate to sound like I'm on commission, but again, the VTDA comes to mind regarding maintenance ease. I perhaps didn't elaborate completely as to why I want the VTDA - it is not shockingly different when you open the hood (actually, you have to know these cars to know it's not stock), it is very effective at heatshielding, it will not run the risk of hydrolocking your vehicle in any conditions, it does sound better, but maintains the car's class...

I'm attached to my current intake though, too : /

I'm buying the VTDA, but it was a hard choice, especially considering the work I put into this one.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, mate, but isn't the VTDA version open under the hood - where as the other is completely enclosed allowing only the air from outside to come in?

Seems like the TTDA would be a true CAI...?

Also, has anyone been on Modshack's site lately? Most the links to pics don't work...

As for the Injen - after what Litto said he does to service his - I'll pass on it... lol... seems like a rather diffcult design flaw to me... [&o] It's going on eBay next week!
