Instrument Cluster Options
My battery was 6 years old and has had a couple of difficulties starting in the past few weeks. Last weekend the car sat for 5 days without starting, started the car Tuesday and the instruments went "mad" with the dials flicking back & forth, stopped the car and called roadside assist. They reckon the battery voltage was low and the battery needed replacement.
Replaced the battery all seemed okay but the next day, engine starts & then stops with the immobiliser indicators on the dash.
Towed to stealership, diagnosis new instrument cluster -------------A$2580 including labour. Need to wait until Tuesday at the earlier to get it back. Bugger.

i got something in the mail from Audi of America regarding the instrument cluster issue saying that i need to send this form in after i fill it out and then they will cover it? has anyone else gotten this?? I think it's weird b/c it came to my parents address and the car isn't even registered to that address.
Kov, I appreciate you providing that link with all the information about the TT IC replacement situation in the US. The issue being described in that thread appears to be related to fuel gauge and trip accuracy which is not the issue in my situation.
It did howver prompt me to call my dealer and have a chat to see if he will support an approach to Audi Australia to contribute to the cost of repair. He reckons he will contact them and put the case to them. He says the criteria for them to contribute is based on:
Original owner? (we got the TT when it was 15 months old and had 6,000 kilometre (3750 miles)
Under 4 years old (it is 2002)
Less than 100,000 kilometres (we are way under this one)
Full Audi dealer service history (yep).
I will post the overcome.
